Love to Make!

Day 8, Love to Make:

If I didn’t love what I do, I wouldn’t wake up at 4:30 a.m. in the morning and want to paint! I want to make art all the time. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with my ideas! I’ll have projects and ideas half finished, waiting to be worked on.

When I worked as an art instructor for young kids, and when my kids were much younger, I would think of all sorts of creative projects to work on. Now that I’m working on my own art, all my creative juices are going into my projects and commissions.

When I was starting to make art again, for me back in 2017, I challenged myself to make art everyday for a year. That practice is what really disciplined me to make art everyday now and to be a professional artist. It was that challenge, and my motivation to want to be an artist, that made me see that even on the hard days when you don’t feel like making art, to get up and make.
