Technique and Skill!

March 18, 2020
Day 18, Technique / Skill:
These past three years I’ve been learning about watercolors. I never really painted with them except with my children. But over these few years I have learned about different techniques and developed better skill with them.

With my abstract watercolor paintings I paint in one sitting. I use a variety of brushes, or I use one brush that can be used in different ways. I limit my color palette and use a variety of brush strokes to create my compositions.

With my pet portraits or illustrations I am still learning about the layering process of watercolors and sometimes it make me impatient to wait for drying time but I love the results.

I’m still developing and learning about oil painting, and gouache painting to create my landscapes, but I feel that my technique is very painterly impressionistic and abstract.
Over all, I feel that my technique and skills are still evolving and developing, like most artist.
